Police say a group of two or three men robbed two people near the intersection of Calhoun and Roseneath and shot one of the victims in the back.
“Both of them had all of their stuff taken,” said Houston police commander William McPherson of the victims.
The condition of the shooting victim was not clear, and he was taken to the hospital, McPherson said. The incident occurred at around 2:20 a.m. just outside MacGregor Park near the University of Houston.
He said at least two or three men, and possibly more, got out of a dark sedan and approached the victims.
Nearby, several cars were also broken into, with their windows smashed in, but McPherson said they didn’t yet know if the same people were responsible for those break-ins.
He said police were looking for two black men in their 20s responsible for the robberies. No one had been arrested yet.
