Thieves make off with $1,900 after shooting elderly man during robbery, Houston police say

A south Houston man is expected to survive after he was shot during a robbery early Tuesday morning.

The man, in his 70s, had just arrived home in the 3000 block of Dacca Drive around 2 a.m. when two men in a gray pickup pulled up to his house, according to Houston Police Department Lt. Christopher Bruce. The pair pulled a gun on the elderly man and demanded money, Bruce said.

Even though they were able to get $1,900 in cash off of the victim, they still shot him in the hip, Bruce said. The two then fled the scene in the gray pickup.
