Stunning photos show a side of Sugar Land you’ve never seen

A little girl wearing a polka-dotted hat and black Mary Jane shoes looks left as she decides which way she will choose to walk. A yellow spider enjoys a meal in its food web. And an empty bench soaks up the last gleaming rays of a setting sun.

The stunning images, which capture the environmental diversity of a popular Sugar Land recreational area, were all winners in the Cullinan Park Conservancy 2019 photo contest. The winners were announced recently at the 3rd annual Picnic for the Park fundraising luncheon, which is sponsored by Memorial Hermann Sugar land Hospital.

The contest had four categories, including wildlife, landscape, flora and photographer’s choice. It featured two age requirements: an adult category and an under 18 category.

More than 100 entries were submitted and judged, according to a news release by the Cullinan Park Conservancy.

The conservancy hosts the photo contest each year to “highlight the diversity of the natural scenery” in the Joseph S. and Lucie H Cullinan Park that sits on 754 acres in Sugar Land.  The single criterion for the photo contest was that the photos all be taken at the park, the release said.
