Selena tribute ‘Festival de la Flor’ in Corpus Christi canceled, according to media reports

Selena may live forever, but the festival honoring the Queen of Tejano in her hometown appears to be over…at least for now.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Q Productions, the company owned by the late singer’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, according to a report by KENS5 in San Antonio.

For the past five years, the company has held Fiesta de la Flor in Corpus Christi — Selena’s hometown — to honor her legacy.

According to the report, Q Productions announced in October that the festival would no longer be held in Corpus Christi.  However, there was the possibility that it would be held elsewhere.

On Tuesday, however, Q Productions’ public relations director said in an email to KENS5 that “there is no more Fiesta de la Flor festival”.

The Corpus Christi Caller Times reported that Abraham Quintanilla confirmed by phone, and said the festival celebrating Selena’s life was “canceled.”

When asked if the festival could happen in the future in Corpus Christi or another city, he said it was “possible.”
