Police: Woman fatally shoots man at northwest Harris County home

A fight between an estranged couple left a man dead Sunday after the woman he confronted grabbed a gun and shot him at a northwest Harris County home, according to police.

The man arrived at a home in the 14100 block of Barons Bridge Drive, prompting the woman to “retrieve a pistol,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a tweet, describing the shooting as domestic violence.

“Words were exchanged,” Gonzalez said. “The pistol went off, striking the male.”

The man, identified as 66-year-old Ray Court, later died, police said. The woman, 68-year-old Carolyn Court, has since been charged with murder.

Housing records show the Courts owned a home together. They had been married for about 42 years and separated in the last couple of weeks, according to Gonzalez.
