Houstonians line up for pies from Flying Saucer Pie Company before Thanksgiving

Some wanted a few. Others needed many.

A Houston Thanksgiving tradition continued this year as hundreds lined up outside the Flying Saucer Pie Company to snag a sought-after pie.

One purchased 40 of them for his employees, loading the desserts in the bed of his truck. Another customer said she had been buying Flying Saucer pies for her family for 30 years. Many waited hours to get their pies.

The demand is so great, the bakery has had to lay down a few rules when it comes to the Thanksgiving rush: No orders are taken, especially from delivery apps; and pies are not held or reserved for customers. It’s all first come, first serve.

The Flying Saucer Pie Company, 436 W. Crosstimbers, has been serving up fresh pies since 1967.
