Child found safe after being taken in west Houston car theft

A 2-year-old child was found safe after they were taken in a stolen SUV on Houston’s west side Thursday morning.

Officers were called to a drug store in the 13100 block of Bellaire Boulevard around 9:20 a.m. The SUV, described as a gray 2014 Toyota RAV4, was stolen from the business parking lot with the 2-year-old inside.

Officers and a Texas DPS helicopter searched for the SUV, police said. They then found the child unharmed in the 12100 block of Alief Clodine Road, about two miles from the business on Bellaire.

They did not find the SUV nor the person who stole it, police said.
