Cement truck collides with Amtrak train in Liberty County

One person was injured Tuesday afternoon when a cement-mixing truck collided with an Amtrak train in , according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the truck was injured,, but his condition is unknown at this time, said Capt. Ken DeFoor with the sheriff’s office. No one on the train appeared to be injured, he added.

The crash occurred near the scene of another August train crash that injured multiple people, the captain said.

The latest crash happened around 1:10 p.m. in the Eastgate area of Liberty County, said DeFoor. The train was travelling from Los Angeles to New Orleans.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the collision.
