Cameras capture gunman who shot man in the head, Houston police say

Houston police detectives are hoping the public can help identify a man seen on surveillance cameras shorty after a shooting Wednesday in west Houston.

The victim, 49, was sitting on an electrical box around 11:30 a.m. at an apartment in the 3400 block of Ocee Street, near Richmond Avenue. That’s when the gunman walked up, and the two started to scuffle, police said.

The suspect pulled a gun and shot the man in the left side of his head before running off on foot, police said. What led to the violence is unclear.

Police pulled surveillance footage from a nearby business, which captured the gunman fleeing.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, standing about 6 feet tall with a thin build. On the day of the shooting, he was spotted wearing black pants with a white stripe, a white t-shirt and a gray hat.

Anyone with information is urged to call HPD’s Major Assaults Division at 713-308-3800 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
