A second man has been charged with capital murder following a shooting two months ago outside a northwest Harris County sports bar that authorities said may be drug related.
Xavier Fletcher, 18, of Houston, was arrested Feb. 7, seven weeks after the shooting in the parking lot of Headliners Sports Bar, 9804 Jones Road, northwest of Jersey Village. Jason Cisneros, 26, is also charged with capital murder. He was arrested on Feb. 5.
They are charged in the deaths of Diego Barrera and Alturion Banks. During a probable cause hearing for Fletcher, a Harris County prosecutor said Barrera was shot nine times and Banks six times.
The prosecutor said that surveillance footage showed the accused gunmen meeting the victims at the sports bar at around 2 a.m. on Dec. 22. They all then went into Barrera’s car.
Barrera was seen producing a jar of marijuana, the prosecutor said, and then got into an altercation with Fletcher in the front seat. Flashes from gunfire were then seen coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle, where Cisneros was seen entering. After exiting the car, Fletcher and Cisneros were seen pushing over Barrera as if they were looking for something.
In other surveillance video, the prosecutor said, Cisneros was seen dropping of Fletcher at a hospital for a gunshot wound to his hand. Police questioned Fletcher there and said his story did not match what was shown on surveillance cameras.
Fletcher said that he had marijuana in the car, the prosecutor said, and that Barrera had started the fight.
Cisneros and Fletcher are currently being held in Harris County Jail without bond.
